“Bismillah (In the name of God)”
Everyone has worries, fears, questions and doubts. Somethings are so shameful or personal that we dare not discuss it with anyone. Maybe, you trust someone so much that you take the time to talk to that person about it. In return, that trusted person judged you and made you feel worse.
Maybe you chose the wrong person. That’s okay because there is a higher power that is always present, watching, listening and waiting for you because there are wounds the world cannot see. Boy, Allah (God) gives us a cure:
“We send down in the Qur’an that which is a healing and mercy for the believers.” (17:82)
How can the Quran heal you?
Whenever you feel ache in your body, you reach for medicine that can subdue the pain. A lot of time, pain comes from your spirituality disconnect or the lack of interaction with Allah (God). You might listen to the Quran without understanding what is being said. However, if you clear your mind and concentrate on the reciter’s voice and tone, it will calm your heart. If you take the time to read it in a language that you understand, it will heal your heart. The Qur’an heals what medicine cannot—fear, sadness, doubt, and despair.
Why can the Quran do that?
I am not an expert here; I can only convey what my experiences. The Quran is the words of Allah (God). He is teaching you
- how to serve and glorify Him.
- What is your purpose.
- The story of the people before you.
- The outcome of your choices.
Once you accept Allah’s (God’s) guidance and make it part of your daily life with sincerity. There is a calmness or peace that takes hold of your heart and soul that make you forget the past, ease anger and fills you with joy, hope and contentment.
Does that mean you never get bad emotions?
Of course, “Yes,” you are a human being after all. Things will happen, people will get on your nerves, you will get on people’s nerves, you will experience good and bad things. However, their effect on you will be different. Your reaction will also be different because you will approach whatever situation with peace in your heart and Allah’s God’s words in your head.
What is the best habit to have?
Even one verse can change the state of your heart. Make it a habit to read the Quran every day. It doesn’t have to be a lot. Choose a time that is best for you. This habit can make people around you feel uncomfortable. You might get criticized for it. Don’t argue and just do so in their absence. Take hold of Allah’s God’s words and see how peaceful your life will be.
Ask yourself
- What part of my heart needs healing?
- How often do I read the Qur’an?
- What verse comforts me?
Prayer
O Allah, heal my heart through Your words. Ameen
