“Bismillah (In the name of God)”

Life can feel heavy. But Allah promises:

“Indeed, with hardship comes ease.” (94:6)

Allah repeats this verse to remind us that ease is not separate from hardship—it is hidden within it.

I remember, a few years ago I was very sick. I didn’t think that I would survive my illness. The problem is the fact that I had pain all over my body. I couldn’t sit for more than five minutes.  I had extra back pain, my left arm and hand wouldn’t move. I had slurred speech, very little memory and I had a young baby to look after.

I rarely visited the same doctor twice.  I felt like some of the doctors thought I was lying. On top of everything, I had constant worry of what will become of my child if I die.  So, I decided to ask Allah (God) from time to time, “Why me?” This sentence was like a dhikr to me.

What changed?

After four years of suffering and countless doctor visits. I met a chiropractor, as soon as I explained the body ache and the lower back issue.  He smiled and said, “From your description, I think I know the cause of your pain. Go get an x-ray and we’ll talk after that.”

The x-ray showed that my spine was in shape of S. He pointed to the picture and said, “Your spine got dislocated.  I am going to put it back into place. It will take a few adjustments, but you will be fine after that.”

He did exactly what he said he would and in about one month, I was pain free.

Every tear, every test, every delay is shaping you. What feels like breaking is often building.

Sometime, after that I became a Muslim.  Through the Quran, I use Allah (God)’s words to discover how much grace He shower on me and in my life. Just as He promised, my daily life moved from hardship to ease of pain and movement.

Ramadan teaches patience, resilience, and trust.Your hardship is not your ending.

Ask yourself

  1. What hardship is testing my trust in Allah?
  2. Where can I see signs of ease?
  3. What lesson might Allah be teaching me?

Prayer

O Allah, place ease in my trials and patience in my heart. Ameen
