“Bismillah (In the name of God)”

Sometimes we feel lost because we are waiting for guidance before taking a step. But Allah teaches us:

“As for those who strive for Us, We will surely guide them to Our ways.” (29:69)

Although Allah (God) give us the blueprint of how to please him and live a life of peace and happiness, we tend to lose the way by following other people or do things that are not right even if we know that the act or behavior is wrong.

How can we strive for Allah?

Striving for Allah (God) can come on many forms.  The first thing that must be in your heart and thought is that whatever you are doing is to please Allah (God) or obey His command.

What can we do?

Suppose you have a;

  1. Drinking problem
  2. Gambling problem
  3. Foul speech/ill speech issue

And you want to remove these things in your life because they are not pleasing to Allah. While you are working on abstaining from these problems, you would also be praying to Allah for help and guidance while helping someone who might need your help.

Striving for Allah (God) is continuous. It is having the mind to work on yourself for the pleasure of Allah (God) even when you feel like you have made no progress. Improving yourself, helping Allah’s (God’s) creations are some of the ways to strive for Allah (God).

Guidance comes after effort. When you move toward Allah (God) even slowly, He meets you with light.

You don’t need to see the whole path. You just need to take the next step and Allah will assist you.

Ask yourself

  1. What step can I take toward Allah today?
  2. Where do I need His guidance most?
  3. How can I be consistent?

Prayer

O Allah, guide me as I strive to please You. Ameen
