“Bismillah (In the name of God)”

I love to read and write. As far as I can remember, I always write down what I wanted to do.  I honestly believe that once I write it down and pray to Allah (God) for it. In a matter of months or less, I will get what I ask for. However, once the time frame that I give myself to accomplish whatever goal or plan that I have in mind, I start to worry, and replay scenarios try to control what only Allah can manage, forgetting that the outcome is in His hands.

Allah tells us:

“Then when you have decided, rely upon Allah. Indeed, Allah loves those who rely on Him.” (3:159)

Tawakkul does not mean doing nothing, it means doing your best and trusting Allah with the rest.

After I understand praying and trusting in Allah (God) is a good start but, I must also work hard to achieve the goal.  I got sick and had to leave my job.  I went to many interviews, but I would not get hired.  I kept on worrying and stressing about the lack of not getting anything. So, I decided to upgrade my skills by taking two courses to enhance my knowledge and skills. As I completed the courses, I went to an interview, and I was offered a position with a higher salary than I expected.

When you place your trust in Allah, you must also be actively working on yourself and your spirituality, so fear loosens its grip, and your heart finds peace.

Ask yourself

  1. What am I trying to control instead of trusting Allah?
  2. Where do I need to surrender?
  3. What would reliance on Allah look like today?

Prayer

O Allah, teach my heart to trust You completely. Ameen
